For the first time in the Middle East, art lovers will be able to select from a range of intensive one-day courses. Presented by internationally renowned experts, experience the beauty of original works of art and jewellery up close and personal.

Courses:
Smart Collecting is addressed to emerging and established art collectors who wish to acquire art and build collections. It will offer practical advice on the aesthetic and financial aspects of art and will explore the mechanisms of the art market, the value of art, insurance, transport, and conservation. The course will better equip collectors to establish relationships with art advisors, galleries and auction houses.
Lectures by: Lisa Ball-Lechgar, Philip Hoffman, Ruth Johnson and Ray Waterhouse.

Modern & Contemporary Middle Eastern Art has rarely been given on an academic level let alone in the format of a short class. The syllabus will be specially designed to examine the key movements of Middle Eastern art starting from the 1950s to the present day. The class will cover various artists such as Paul Guiragossian, Rabab El Nemr, Farhad Moshiri, Walid Raad, Shirin Neshat, etc. Throughout the class, a political synopsis will accompany the artistic content in order to contextualise it. The geographical scope of the course includes the Levant, the Gulf and Iran.
Lectures by: Lisa Ball-Lechgar, Saleh Barakat, Paul Hewitt, Rose Issa and William Lawrie.

Understanding Jewellery & Watches will cover a wealth of subjects such as the evolution of value, history, design and fashion of jewellery and watches. Pieces will be available for examination where possible.
