CANVAS YOUNG TALENTS AWARD
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote art and culture, and in the spirit of encouraging young adults wishing to pursue artistic careers, Canvas has teamed up with Dubai-based artist Katya Trabulsy to hold a series of workshops that will conclude with an exhibition and competition. Young adults aged between 10–17 are invited to enroll in Trabulsy’s art workshops that will take place weekly from 3 October 2009 to 31 May 2010 in Jumeirah, Dubai. The artworks produced will be exhibited at the American University in Dubai and three prizes will be given to the most promising talents by a jury comprised of leading members of the media and arts industry.

CONTEMPORARY CHINESE ART (Monday 17 November, 2008)
This seminar will focus on the influences on Chinese art, how the Cultural Revolution instigated the birth of a dormant arts scene and movements in Chinese Contemporary art from 1980 to the present. The seminar will also cover the Chinese art market from its domestic recognition to its global success.
MODERN & CONTEMPORARY ART FROM THE INDIAN SUB-CONTINENT (Tuesday 18 November, 2008)
This seminar will examine how the juxtaposition of everyday life and traditions has affected culture-rich India and Pakistan in the past 20 to 30 years and the subjects that are commonly treated in these societies. The seminar will also analyse the South Asian market's behaviour in comparison to other emerging ones.
