Mixed Media Publishing, a Dubai-based boutique publishing house, whose titles include Canvas magazine, is expanding and seeking to recruit focused and motivated individuals for the following positions.

Candidates should apply for a specific position if they possess 5 years of experience or more and are self-motivated, dynamic, flexible, fluent in English and proficient in Microsoft Office. They must have excellent communication, organisational and time management skills and be able to multi-task and work within tight deadlines.
Knowledge of Arabic is desirable. Only candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher will be considered.
Salary is dependent on experience.

Looking for a Freelance Arabic Layout Designer
Applicant must:
Be fluent in both english and arabic
Working knowledge of Mac Operating system, Indesign CS3 and Photoshop CS3

Graphic Designer | Production Assistant
(Please note that we are not looking for senior graphic designers)
As the two positions of Graphic Designer and Production Assistant will be merged into one job role, your primary task will be to oversee creative layouts of ads, leaflets, brochures, invitations and the flagship title, Canvas magazine and produce professional print-ready hi-res files in Adobe InDesign, in addition to the following skills:

  1. Proficiency in In Design, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  2. Photo retouching and colour correction (taking into consideration the type of printing and the paper used)
  3. Knowledge of Packaging:
    1. Checking high-res images and retouching
    2. Ability to trace efficient die cuts
    3. Attention to detail: checking colour uniformity, font style, size, etc.
    4. Checking pagination
  4. Prepress settings and procedure of offset and digital printing:
    1. Ability to check printed samples and sheets and perform any necessary corrections with a focus on replacing the right pages and maintaining the correct pagination.
    2. A keen interest in graphic design and an artistic flair. A team player, ability to multi-task, ;take high-resolution photographs when required and handle printing requests.
    3. Applicant must be fluent in English.
    4. Experience in Arabic design is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Additional notes concerning work on Canvas magazine:

  1. Checking on a wide range of images and reporting analysing their size, quality and dimensions.
  2. Working closely with the Art Director and Editorial department to fulfill main tasks and take of any other tasks as needed, including files from the archives, pdfs, print jobs and any     necessary graphic related tasks.
  3. Finalising articles to place on the magazine book after completing the notes mentioned above, and maintaining an eye for detail as changes in some sections may affect others.
  4. Creating mock-ups and clearly briefing the Production Manager on any special operations, supplying each brief with printouts and a description to the job.
